The Birds series echoes my ongoing exploration of female representation. ‘My Bird‘ is a colloquial term used to refer to a woman - a linguistic ambiguity I enjoy playing with.

Each bird becomes a portrait, with a pet name. Isolated against backgrounds reminiscent of wallpaper or domestic interiors, these ‘bird-figures’ question the way femininity is perceived: fixed, decorative, tamed - or, on the contrary, untamed and ready to take flight.
